Dr. McLeod joined Francis Marion University in 2016. He teaches principles of marketing, international marketing, and marketing communications.
Dr. McLeod is a veteran of the United States Navy. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Dr. McLeod began his higher education, including earning his law degree from Southern Illinois University. After passing the bar exam, Dr. McLeod opened Southern Illinois Legal Services, N.F.P., a not-for-profit law office where he represented low income individuals. He was also responsible for the marketing efforts of the firm and he soon discovered his love of Marketing. This love of marketing lead to his decision to leave the practice of law and earn his Ph.D.
Dr. McLeod’s areas of research consist of consumer behavior, digital and social media marketing, marketing and public policy and ethics. Dr. McLeod’s time practicing law strongly fueled an interest in ethics and public policy. Recently, Dr. McLeod and two coauthors have worked on a series of manuscripts examining the traits and motivations of gamblers and fantasy sports players focusing on the public policy and ethical implications arising from legalizing pay-to-play fantasy sports.
