The Francis Marion
University Theatre's 2016-17 season winter production will be Blue Bird by Liza Lentini
The FMU Theatre Department is proud to present a premiere of a new dark comedy by Liza Lentini, Blue Bird.
ADULT LANGUAGE AND SUBJECT MATTER. The play centers on rape/sexual assault of a woman in the military.
THE STORY: An amiable, unexpected stranger arrives one afternoon to
visit three specific women with his agenda in tow -- but what is it
exactly? Surrounded by secrets of past, present and future, imbedded in
the aftershock of both war and the broken American Dream, Blue Bird
takes its audience on a thoroughly absurd tour of this broad slice of
life, both frightening and heroic, with an all too real message and an
unforgettable twist you won't forget.
As an introduction to this complex and loaded topic, we have invited
the playwright, director, an Equal Opportunities Officer from Shaw
Airforce Base, and a Representative from the PeeDee Coalition to
present a panel, Classified: Sexual Assault in the Military,
