2015 SFWP Invitational Summer Institute



June 8-12, June 15-19, & June 22-26; 9:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

The Swamp Fox Writing Project 2015 Invitational Summer Institute is an opportunity for educators from all subject areas and grade levels to share and examine their classroom practice, study the latest research, explore best practices, develop their writing skills, and network with a diverse group of colleagues. This summer’s course will focus on practical strategies for implementing on-demand writing in testing situations as well as writing Student Learning Objectives in accordance with the new teacher evaluation instrument.

Participants receive 6 hours of Francis Marion University graduate credit. The cost of the course, including books and materials, is $500. Participants will be eligible to receive a $250 scholarship, bringing the total cost of the course to $250. NOTE: this price includes all course materials.

Course Overview:

  • Grade level-specific classroom strategies (will model a balance of reading, writing, speaking and listening).
  • Exploration of articles that emphasize balanced teaching of reading, writing, speaking and listening.
  • Discussion of classroom practice with experts and teachers.
  • Protocol to plan for possibilities and outcomes in the classroom.
  • Development of teaching plans for implementing the share strategies in their classrooms/buildings and a demonstration lesson to share with colleagues.
