Dunham's Bluff Tour - April 2007

One recent event allowed the public to experience the excitement of discovering pieces of Francis Marion's history.

In April of 2007, the FMTC offered a free public tour of Dunham’s Bluff, one of the most promising archaeological dig sites that the Commission has encountered to date. The public visited this property, which is owned by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.

Every Saturday in April, groups interested in Francis Marion were led throughout the site on an hour-long tour. The tours were offered at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m., allowing the groups to be small and intimate, enhancing the experience.

By the end of April, roughly 150 people had visited the site. This flagship event was the first of many events that will be open to the public to celebrate the life and legacy of Francis Marion.
