Sheba

Sheba is a musical portrait of an ancient land thought to have been blessed with great wealth, beauty, and enchantment. The queen of Sheba’s visit to King Solomon is briefly documented in the Old Testament of the Bible and was distinguished by an exchange of immense riches between the two rulers. Colorful percussion, modal harmonies, and primitive rhythms transport the listener to an exotic civilization.

This simple and direct chorale from the motion picture Saving Private Ryan is a stirring tribute to veterans of World War II.

Insignia is a new work commissioned by the Jamesville-DeWitt High School Band in Syracuse, New York. It is dedicated to the memory of band member Alexander Radoff-Poulos. The piece is in a traditional ABA overture form and demonstrates both the energetic and lyrical qualities of the symphonic band.
