Craig Alberty Coordinator of Music Program Director of Instrumental Activities Francis Marion University An active composer, he has over 40 works published for concert band and jazz ensemble with titles on numerous contest performance lists in the U.S. and Australia. Jammin', his beginning jazz improvisation method published by C. L. Barnhouse, has been used nation-wide for over a decade. His compositions have been included on programs at the Midwest Band and Orchestra Conference in Chicago (6 times), The World Saxophone Congress in Montreal, and other state and regional meetings including the North American Saxophone Alliance. For nearly 20 years he has operated an audio production studio specializing in the creation of accompaniment recordings for educational music publishers. He has produced over a dozen CDs for band and recorder methods for Ed Sueta Music and Macie Publishing. His most recent publishing venture is the creation of Joyous Noise Music, an online publishing company specializing in hymns set in contemporary styles. Trained as a trumpet player, he now performs on saxophones, clarinet, and wind-controlled synthesizer. The Alberty family includes wife Lyn (euphonium, trombone) who is a band director and personnel manager of the Florence Symphony; daughter Erin (piano, trumpet) toiling as a newspaper reporter in Salt Lake City; son Seth (trombone) a mechanical engineer bouncing between China and Chicago; son Thad (trumpet, piano) in 8th grade; and son Grant (recorder, piano) in 5rd grade.
